WILLIAM CRAIG

Will was born on Lewa and has spent his life involved in tourism and conservation in the north of Kenya. Will started flying at a young age and was a Crop Duster pilot for many years. He held a commercial pilots license until recently, within the region of 10,000 hours of flying experience he now only fly’s privately but you will still find Will buzzing around Lewa in the beautiful Waco Bi-Plane or at the airstrip sharing his wealth of knowledge with the younger pilots in the team. His mission in starting Air Wilderness has been to facilitate the arrival of guests into the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy for the benefit of conservation and the improved comfort of guests.

DARRYL VAN DYK

Darryl was born and raised in Swaziland and did his studies in South Africa. He came to Kenya in 2011 and found that this part of Africa is the part he wants to call home. Darryl joined the Lewa Wilderness team in 2020 with the task of establishing a private charter operation that can support tourism in the north of Kenya. Darryl has a Commercial Pilots License with over 2500 hours of bush flying experience and alternates between flying and managing the company. Growing up and living in various parts of Africa, and for the last 10 years in Kenya, Darryl is very knowledgeable about the flying conditions as well as the landscape, cultures, wildlife and the many facets that make Africa a fascinating continent to visit. He provides not only a safe and reliable service as a pilot but can also be your guide in the air so that you get a better perspective of the land you fly over.

Asif Khan

Asif was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. Growing up around aviation, he began his love for flying at an early age. He attained his commercial pilot license in South Africa. His flying career started in general aviation in 2012, on contracts with the UN and other humanitarian agencies.

He progressed onto multiple turbine aircraft and finally onto a commercial jet. In 2021, After working all over Africa, he moved to flying within and around Kenya, widening his scope of the bush and coastal destinations. His passion for the iconic scenery, national parks and wildlife continues to expand. Asif joined the Air Wilderness team in February 2024, with over 4,000 hours flying experience. He enjoys sharing his knowledge of this beautiful country and his experiences. He has interests in wildlife, conservation and the communities around them.

Juliet Mutiso

Juliet joined Air Wilderness in February 2024 as Operations Manager & Head of Finance. She leverages her 17 year experience to ensure long term sustainability and success of our operations. She ensures every aspect of your memorable flight experience is meticulously planned and executed. 

Sanad Abuseen

Once upon a time, there lived a young man named Sanad from Libya, whose dream was to become a pilot. He embarked on an adventurous journey across Africa in pursuit of his dream. His aviation odyssey began in 2017 and by 2019, he had achieved his Commercial Pilot License.

Continuing to soar, he earned his certification as a flight instructor in 2021 and acquired his aircraft engineering license in 2022. By the end of 2023, he found himself joining Air Wilderness, where he will fulfill his dream of flying in the enchanting African wilderness.

FLORENCE ONANO

Florence’s passion for travel and wildlife pushed her to a career in the travel industry. After working for numerous travel agencies in Kenya Florence joined Air Wilderness to bring her experience in flight reservations and operations. She is responsible for flight enquires, quotations, bookings and flight planning.

ALEX MWITI

Alex is our Accountant at our head office based at Lewa Wilderness. Alex joined Air Wilderness in June 2021. He studied Business Administration at Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) and graduated with second class honours and has been working as anAccountant in the Aviation Industry for the past 3 years. Alex ensures all our bookkeeping is kept up to date and that we are compliant with all industry and governmental policies and regulations.

Simon Kimiri

Born and raised in Laikipia County, Kenya Simon is our Airstrip Assistant who makes sure all our planes are cleaned, fueled, and ready for each flight. He works closely with our Pilots to assist with all tasks related to the airplanes, as well as maintaining the office and airstrip surroundings.

Tim Baranabas

Tim, our Operations Assistant, is stationed at both the airstrip and main office on Lewa. Following his high school graduation, Tim embarked on studies in Automotive Engineering. However, he swiftly recognized his true passion for aviation and redirected his focus towards flight school.

Balancing work and study, he diligently pursued his goal over the past few years, culminating in him obtaining his Private Pilot License. Tim will continue to work towards his Commercial Pilots License and eventually joining our crew as a line pilot.
